Openings, Celebrations & A Look Ahead
Hello friends,
As I sit down to write this, the scent of sawdust still clings to my clothes, and my hands carry the quiet satisfaction of time spent shaping form from raw material. This work—the literal building of space and story—continues to ask for my full self, and I’m grateful every time you show up to meet it.
Spring and summer are blooming with exhibitions, community gatherings, and a few announcements I’m very excited to finally share with you.

I’m honored to be part of this powerful group exhibition:
Space Makers: Art and Disability in North Carolina.
This show offers glimpses into the worlds of each artist—exploring access, identity, and what it means to build and move through space with care. These conversations matter, and I hope you’ll come be part of them.

This exhibition, Pendulum, is a visual meditation on rhythm and pause, fragility and resilience, body and breath. Each piece asks: What holds us in place—and what sets us in motion?
If you're local, I’d love to see you at the opening.
🎂 Celebrate with Arts Access!
Save the Date: April 24 , 2025
We’re throwing a birthday party for the Arts Access Gallery—the nonprofit I’ve had the honor of serving as a board member this past year.
It’s a mini fundraiser, a joyful thank-you, and a vision-setting celebration for the inclusive work ahead. Bring your energy, bring a friend. I’ll share more soon, but mark your calendars now!

🖼️ October: New Work at New Elements Gallery
📍 Wilmington, NC
Later this fall, I’ll be showing work at New Elements Gallery. Details are still taking shape, but I’m excited to bring something new to the coast. Stay tuned for info.
📣 Big News: My Largest Public Art Commission
I’m thrilled (and still pinching myself a bit) to share that through Raleigh Arts I’ve been awarded my largest public art commission to date. It’s a project grounded in community, reflection, and inclusion—and I’ll be documenting the process every step of the way.
To start, I’m hosting two community engagement sessions to gathering ideas and feedback:
June 14 – At Caraleigh Park (more details coming soon)
August 1 – At Arts Access
If you’re local, I’d love your voice in this process.
❤️ New Work in Greensboro, NC
If you're in or near Greensboro, I recently was commissioned to create four large permanent works for the brand new Cone Health Heart & Vascular Center.
These works were created with healing in mind—anchored in calm and quiet beauty for a space where so many hearts are held. The ribbon cutting is happening at the end of this month and I cannot wait to see the finished pieces in the space.
Thank you, always, for being part of this journey. Whether you show up in person, follow along online, or take a quiet moment with the work—your presence means so much.
With care and gratitude,
Jean Gray
